Time Bandits Season 1, Episodes 7 and 8 are the final two episodes before the two-part finale, setting up what will hopefully be a strong conclusion to Kevin’s story. Multiple changes have shown that no matter how the season ends, it will be very different from the original Time Bandits movie ending. The movie ends with Kevin’s parents being burned to death, but this has already happened in Time Bandits season 1, episode 2. A major twist at the end Time Bandits season 1, episode 8 suggests the Time Bandits the series will have a happier ending than the movie.

1981 Time Bandits The film was a fun family adventure, and the Apple TV+ series continued its legacy by emphasizing family elements. By changing the storyline to Kevin’s parents and adding his younger sister, Saffron, the Time Bandits the show added more meaning to the fantasy plot. After Time Bandits Season 1, Episodes 5 and 6, Episodes 7 and 8 saw Kevin, Saffron and the bandits making real progress in their mission to rescue their charred parents. This meant there was less emphasis on meeting historical figures, even though they still traveled through time.

5 Kevin and Saffron reunited in Time Bandits Season 1 Episode 7

Saffron was stuck in the ice age for three years

When Fianna united their parents at the end Time Bandits season 1, episode 2, Kevin ran away with the bandits, leaving his younger sister Saffron behind. Luckily, she also escaped from Fianna, but in searching for her family, she ended up traveling through the portal in Kevin’s bedroom. At first, she searched for Kevin, going through the same portals she had used. Time Bandits Season 1, Episode 7 reveals that Saffron eventually gave up and settled in the Ice Age for three years, befriending a group of cavemen. The episode also reunited the brother and sister.


Although Kevin was briefly left behind at the end of Time Bandits season 1, episode 6, found her way through the portal with the other bandits, ending up in the Ice Age. Saffron and Kevin have never had a great relationship, but Time Bandits Season 1, Episodes 7 and 8 bring them closer together, especially when she discovers that their parents have been burned to death. Saffron and Kevin vow to continue searching for them together and never give up like she did. However, they did have their typical sibling squabbles that provided some comic relief between more emotional moments.

4 The Boss Challenged Penelope in Time Bandits Season 1 Episode 7

To continue searching for their parents in Time BanditsSaffron had to abandon the cave community of which she had become an essential part. Time Bandits season 1, episode 7 played with the British humor that Terry Gilliam’s original film used so effectively, with Saffron teaching the cavemen modern British slang. Like Kevin, she passed on her knowledge to the others in her own unique way. This made them very reluctant to let her go, with the village chief challenging Penelope, who he felt challenged by as a leader.


Penelope’s challenge is known as “walk of fear,” which involves walking to a distant point in the night and coming back. If you survive, you win the challenge. As usual in Time BanditsPenelope finds a way out of a sticky situation and wins the challenge, allowing Saffron to go with them freely. The impressed boss even asks Penelope to marry him, even though she claims she is still engaged to Gavin, her latest boyfriend, who may be introduced in the last two episodes of Time Bandits season 1.

The time bandits intended to send Kevin and Saffron back to Bingley in the present day to save their parents, just before Fianna burned them to death. However, despite his progress, Widget had not yet fully mastered the map, and Kevin and Saffron ended up in Bingley in 1996 at the start of Time Bandits season 1, episode 8. They had traveled alone, so they couldn’t count on the help of the time bandits. Kevin and Penelope split up to meet their parents and see what they could do, even though decades had passed since their birth.

As such, their father was a young teenager and their mother was only six years old. It was strange for Kevin and Saffron to meet the younger versions of their parents, but it was also touching. Kevin never fully got along with his family, as they always made him feel like an outsider. However, Kevin gets along well with the older version of his father, while Saffron emotionally doesn’t want to leave her mother after three years without her family. This family bond is sadly ruined by the arrival of Fianna.

2 The time bandits of the future sent a message to their past selves

When the time bandits realize that the portal is supposed to take them back to Haddock’s house while Supreme Being and Fianna are there, they decide it is too dangerous to go. Saffron and Kevin go through the portal without them, leaving the bandits to debate whether or not to follow them. Their minds are decided for them by their future selves, who appear through the portal and tell them that they must save Kevin and Saffron. This is the first time their future selves have used a portal to communicate with them in Time Banditscreating exciting possibilities for the future.

Future Widget also left other important messages through the portal, telling his past self: “Your understanding of the map is greater than you think” AND “time bends.” At the time, he doesn’t understand what she means, but later realizes that there are creases in the map that can help them travel through time more accurately. After nearly eight full episodes of Time BanditsWidget has finally learned how to read the time map properly. Although the discovery came late and could have saved him a lot of trouble earlier, it is certain to become crucial in the final two episodes.

When Pure Evil wakes Fianna to go after Kevin, Saffron, and the time bandits, there are two versions of her. This, and the bandits using the portal to communicate with their past selves, were clues that time and history were altered. This was proven at the end of Time Bandits season 1, episode 8 with the revelation that Kevin and Saffron’s parents had not been covered in coal and were alive in Pure Evil’s Fortress of Darkness.


The widget that sends Kevin and Saffron back at the wrong time to save their parents ends up working and changing their fates. When Fianna shows up, Kevin warns the younger version of his father to remember her. Saffron’s refusal to leave her mother seems like a kidnapping attempt, which leads her to learn how to negotiate with hostages. Therefore, their parents were prepared for the day Fianna would show up and convince her to kidnap them rather than burn them to death.

If
Time Bandits
will be renewed, the second season could explore what Kevin, Saffron and the bandits have changed over the course of the story.


The fact that Kevin and Saffron’s parents are still alive is a good sign for a happy ending. Time Bandits season 1, but the fight to save them isn’t over. Pure Evil still wants the map of time and is holding the Haddocks as ransom for it. He asked them to go to the Fortress of Darkness, but it’s in the missing corner of the map, and finding it will likely involve the Supreme Being in some way. Time Bandits The season one finale promises to be action-packed and full of big twists.
