Colin Jost has been sidelined from his Olympic coverage duties in Tahiti after a week of dramatic injuries, starting with his toe wounds …which, he says, invite ants to come closer if he stays still for too long.
Yes, things have been really bad for the 2024 NBC surf correspondent since he landed in French Polynesia: It’s been one injury after another… starting with a nasty run-in with a reef last week that left three of his toes wrapped in gauze.
“I have a joke? Yes, I’m here.” Colin Jost opens up about his staph-infected foot in his final segment with NBC Olympics Late Night host Maria Taylor. #SNL #Olympics2024Paris @MariaTaylor photo.twitter.com/KorNkozVYy

Colin laughed it off, even joking that his WikiFeet fame might take a hit. But right now, the only thing that could ruin the scene might be ants, as he told NBC Mary Taylor he had never seen it coming.
He added that he was practically a regular at the medical tent, with all the injuries he’d sustained: He got a staph infection on his foot from rubbing against the reef… and woke up with an unrelated ear infection.
All in all, Colin has had to juggle 3 different medications since Toe-hiti Gate happened. But, in true “SNL” fashion, he’s hilariously managed to embrace his out-of-place surf jock vibe.
But in the end Colin can’t go on with all these injuries. A job has to be done, and the Australian meteorologist Luke Bradnam he replaced it.
