we love Patagonia for all sorts of reasons. It was founded by legendary climber Yvon Chouinard, who ate cat food. The company supports families with excellent on-site childcare. Famously, in 2022, Chouinard sold the company to a trust and nonprofit to ensure all sales would go to fighting climate change.
If all of this isn’t enough reason to wear only Patagonia, the clothes are also durable, always in style, and will last forever. To help make it easier on your wallet, Patagonia is currently having a sale on all of its past season styles for up to 40 percent off. Below, we’ve rounded up all of the best deals on our favorites. You’ll find everything from base layers to travel bags. Some of the discounts vary based on size and color. For reference, you can also check out our guides to the best luggage, best rain jackets, and best base layers to learn more.

This synthetic-filled hoodie is the most useful jacket in the world, especially if you live on the West Coast. There are so many companies making similar jackets, but none can compare to the original, which is now made from 100% recycled polyester. It’s lightweight, versatile, and packable. It’s wind and water resistant, which means you can take it on hikes and wear it under softshells and rain jackets, and brush it off before hitting the bar with jeans. It’s worth noting, however, that while both the women’s and men’s versions are on sale, the discount only applies to certain colors.
The Micro Puff Hoody is our favorite lightweight synthetic insulated jacket. It has a slim fit that allows you to wear it under a shell, but it offers more warmth than the Nano Puff. These are also rarely on sale. This discount only applies to the women’s Lagom Blue and men’s Nouveau Green.
Torrentshell in our guide to the best rain jackets. This is Patagonia’s basic, no-nonsense 3-layer rain shell, now made with recycled fabric and a PFC-free DWR finish. Editor-in-Chief Adrienne So says she and her husband have both owned older versions of these jackets for nearly a decade. This offer applies to select women’s and men’s colors.
The Capilene Cool Daily Tee takes the title of best synthetic top in our guide to the best winter base layers, and we give the merino version an honorable mention in our guide to the best climbing gear. The 100% recycled polyester fabric feels luxuriously silky, and while it’s snug, it doesn’t feel restrictive, even during strenuous activity. We recommend picking up more than one, because we guarantee you’ll be rotating through them. This offer applies to select colors only. We’re also fans of the Capilene Cool Daily Graphic Tee, which is on sale for $38 ($17 off) in both men’s and women’s versions.
Patagonia’s R1 Hoodies have a distinctive look because they’re made of a thin, woven synthetic material that’s incredibly light but also incredibly warm. They’re the iconic midlayer for high-intensity outdoor activities, because they breathe when you’re working hard and keep you warm when you stop. But at this price, they’re perfect as a thin travel layer. This offer applies to select colors only.
This offer applies to the Lagom Blue colorway. Like the Capilene Cool Daily Tee, these midweight pants are made of polyester, so they wick sweat and offer enough stretch to keep you moving. Because they’re a midweight fabric, they’re a bit thicker than the lightweight tee. Bonus points to Patagonia for using fabric made from 100% recycled content.
Offers on bags
This is one of our favorite fanny packs in our guide to the best fanny packs. Editor Adrienne So uses hers almost every day, whether she’s running, walking the dogs, or dropping the kids off at school. When it’s zipped up, it sits tight against your lower back. It easily expands to hold a pair of gloves or a hat, as well as other items like your phone, lip balm, and wallet. The ultralight ripstop nylon has been treated with a durable, 100% recycled water-repellent (DWR) finish. It also folds into a small, hidden pocket when you’re traveling.
This is one of our favorite options in our best luggage guide. It’s made from 100% recycled polyester with a TPU film and laminate; editor Adrienne So says she’s been using the 40-liter version for 15 years and the laminate hasn’t peeled off. It also fits as a carry-on for flights. While it comes in a variety of colors and sizes, the only model currently on sale is the 100-liter duffel in Matte Pimento Red.
