Jay Kanter, Agent to Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe, Dead at 97

Jay Kantera legendary film producer and former Hollywood agent to stars such as Marlon Brando AND Marilyn Monroeis dead.

Jay died Tuesday at his home in Beverly Hills, surrounded by his family… his son, Adam Kanterconfirmed to Vscek.

We’re told Jay passed away peacefully of natural causes.

Kanter found work at a major Hollywood agency after World War II… being mentored by the late movie mogul Lew Wasserman and working his way up the hierarchy.

Jay was only 22 when he convinced Brando to sign with him. Marlon remained a client of Jay’s throughout his career and the two were lifelong friends.

Other stars Jay represented were Marilyn, Written by Warren Beatty, Grace Kelly, Ronald Reagan AND Gene Kelly.

Jay eventually transitioned into a film producer and worked on major films such as “Alien,” “Blade Runner,” “Thelma & Louise,” as well as films in the “Star Wars” series and “Police Academy.”

The World of Mel Brooks was another long-time friend of Jay’s… and they worked together on “Spaceballs”, “The Silent Movie”, “Young Frankenstein”, “Life Takes Shit” and “High Anxiety”.

Jay was 97 years old.
