West Ham are working to complete a deal with Nice for centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been linked with moves by Manchester United and Juventus.

They had reached an agreement at the beginning of the summer for a loan with an option to buy for 32 million euros [£27m].

However, it was thought that the player was waiting Juventus.

Juventus have been engaged in negotiations with Nice for weeks, but have not found a solution.

West Ham now appear to believe there is a chance they will reconsider the move, with a loan with a commitment and a permanent move being considered.

The final decision will be up to the player if West Ham can reach a full agreement with Nice. Todibo has three years left on his contract.

West Ham are in the market to sign a central defender with Kurt Zouma will have to undergo medical tests before moving to the United Arab Emirates club Shabab Al Ahli.

Manchester Unitedof which INEOS holds a minority stake as well as owning Nice, had been targeting a move for the 24-year-old, but a move for Todibo is not possible.

The two clubs have agreed not to transfer players between them to ensure they can both play in the same UEFA competition.

When does the summer transfer window close?

THE Summer Transfer Window 2024 will officially close on August 30 at 11pm (UK time) for the Premier League and 11.30pm (Scotland time).

The Premier League has moved up its Deadline Day to match other major leagues in Europe. The cut-off dates were set following discussions with leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.
