Chase Shopping Portal: How to Use Shop Through Chase to Earn More Points

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are one of the most valuable types of points. But unlike most hotel points and airline miles, you can’t earn these points by traveling. Instead, you earn them mostly by using a credit card that earns Ultimate Rewards points, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

Most Chase Ultimate Rewards cards offer a variety of bonus categories that let you earn points quickly on purchases. However, you can use the Chase shopping portal to earn even more Ultimate Rewards points on purchases at select online retailers. Here’s what you need to know about the Shop Through Chase portal.

What is Shop Through Chase?

Shop Through Chase is an online shopping portal accessible through your Chase Ultimate Rewards account.

More than 500 online retailers participate in the Shop Through Chase program. To earn extra points through the Chase shopping portal, click on your favorite retailer from this part of the Chase website and then make a purchase as you normally would. The Shop Through Chase site will transfer you to your favorite retailer’s site, so all you have to do is make a purchase as you normally would.

The extra minute it may take to use Shop Through Chase instead of going directly to your merchant’s website can pay off. For example, if your merchant gives you 5 points per dollar when you start with Shop Through Chase, then a $100 purchase will earn you 500 Ultimate Rewards bonus points.

How does Shop Through Chase work?

If you have more than one Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards points, you must select which account you want to earn points with when you log in to the Ultimate Rewards website.

CHASE.COM

Shop Through Chase payouts are usually the same regardless of the card you choose when you log in. However, payouts for certain merchants sometimes vary by card type. You can manually check each payout by logging in with your various Ultimate Rewards earning cards or by using an aggregator website like cashbackmonitor.com to quickly compare rates across different shopping portals and cards.

After logging into the Ultimate Rewards site, click on the three dots next to “Convert to Cash,” select “Shopping & Experiences,” then click “Shop & Earn Bonus Points.”

CHASE.COM

Once you are on the Shop Through Chase site, you can use it in a few different ways. One option is to enter the merchant you want in the search box on the right.

Or you can scroll down and see the best stores that currently offer high earning rates. You will see a list of all the stores that you can reach through Shop Through Chase by clicking on “View all stores”. If you want to be notified when a store offers more points than usual, you can add it to your favorites by clicking on the little heart.

CHASE.COM

Once you find the merchant you want, click on the merchant’s name. You will be taken to a screen that verifies how many bonus points per dollar you will earn for your purchase and any restrictions or rules associated with that merchant.

After clicking “Buy Now” on the rules and restrictions screen, you will be directed to the retailer’s website.

Assuming you are ready to make the purchase, do so immediately after being transferred to the retailer’s site by Chase. Be sure not to close your browser or sign out and then come back. The cookie placed in your browser may still count the purchase if you sign out for a while, but it may not. You can always start the process over at the Shop Through Chase website if you are unsure.

The points you earn with Shop Through Chase typically appear on your “Rewards Activity” page within three to five business days of your purchase. However, in some cases, it may take up to two billing cycles for your bonus points to appear.
