Tim Walz He didn’t just coach the football team to cash the checks… so says one of his former players, who tells Vscek Sports My life is beautifulThe vice president candidate was an intelligent person who always managed to get the most out of the team.
We sat down with Seth Greenwald — who is now himself a coach at Hamline University — just days after Walz was announced as Harris’ running mate… and described the former Mankato West High School (MN) football standout as a “man’s man.”

“He was energetic, super knowledgeable,” Greenwald said. “He wants to be hands-on, whatever he does, he puts 10 toes in it. That’s the thing that sets him apart. He’s the same guy then as he is now for the most part, obviously he’s evolved and taken on different roles.”
Walz served on the sidelines at Mankato West for several seasons in the 1990s before switching gears… and now, with the opportunity to help lead the entire country, Greenwald spoke highly of his leadership.
“The thing that stands out is just trying to get the most out of yourself, trying to realize that there’s a bigger picture out there and a higher goal, and pushing yourself to reach your full capacity. That’s what really stands out.”
One could argue that the most important question people are asking is not Walz’s political stance, which is obviously important, but what kind of plan has he advanced?
Greenwald described it as classic downhill football!!!
“It was a 4-4 cover three, it’s like day one, put it on the board,” he said. “We had a lot of talent. We didn’t see a lot of variation in the scheme. You saw a lot of people leaning on each other. A lot of people coming down. So you had to be ready for the physicality, and that’s where the mentality comes in.”
Hey, if the Harris/Walz partnership doesn’t work out… he could always fall back on his old job!!
