So far, the only way to try Apple Intelligence features on an iPhone is with the iPhone 15 Pro. The entire iPhone 16 lineup is expected to get the features this fall, but “you can also bet” that the iPhone SE, coming “as early as early 2025,” will get them, too, it says. BloombergMark Gurman today Turn on news. If that’s true, it might be a lot harder to pass up Apple’s cheapest phone.
The deal with the iPhone SE has been that you get a cheap, reasonably powerful iPhone that recycles an outdated form factor (most recently, the iPhone 8). It’s always been super obvious that this is Apple’s budget compromise!
The iPhone 16, which is expected to be announced soon, is still expected to have other perks, like the 15 Pro’s dual cameras and Action button, that haven’t been mentioned for the iPhone SE. But how much do these features matter to ordinary people? If the next SE looks like an iPhone 14, performs about as well as the iPhone 16 lineup, and is priced like, you know, an iPhone SE, will they skip those savings for the niceties of more expensive iPhones? I guess we might find out soon enough.
