Andy Cohen Has a New Perspective on The Real Housewives Franchise Since Having Kids

The big picture

  • Now Andy Cohen, as a father, sees the Real Housewives differently, realizing the importance of keeping kids out of the drama.
  • Cohen compares his children’s defense to the way Teresa Giudice and Danielle Cabral protect their family on the series.
  • Bravo’s unspoken rule about keeping kids off limits is essential, in keeping with Cohen’s new perspective as a parent.

Andy Cohen has seen the housewives fighting each other since the beginning. But the Bravo star had a shocking revelation about the women of The Real Housewives franchising now that he has children. Cohen was on Bitch session and he talked a lot about how his children, Lucy, 2, and Ben, 5, made him look at housewives and what they go through differentlyIt’s interesting to see how he talks about it now, given the arguments the women have had in the past about their children and what Cohen said on the podcast.

He started by saying that now he sees things differently. “My perspective on The Housewives has changed a little bit since I became a dad,” Cohen said. “Just because I pay attention to different things…you know, I look at it a little differently.” He said he wouldn’t take kindly to people talking about his kids, which is similar to how Teresa Judge it’s on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. “If someone I didn’t like called out one of my children’s names, I would say … as mellow yellow as I am, that’s what I would need,” Cohen said. Giudice has famously fought women for even thinking about saying her daughters’ names, even if they’re having a normal conversation.

Another housewife Cohen mentioned is Danielle Cabral from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. No one came for Cabral’s kids, but she doesn’t like it when people talk about her husband’s body, and Cohen compared that to how she would react if someone brought up her kids. “Danielle Cabral’s button is ‘Don’t talk about my husband’s pecs.’ My response would be, “If you name my children unfavorably.” Like, I would go completely nuts. I guess it’s very common.”

Children should be off-limits for housewives

A rule on Bravo has always been to leave the kids out. This isn’t always because the wives are trying to pass on something and use a child as an example or just the general nature of the show brings these guys into their battles. But Cohen feeling the same way many of the wives do about their kids bodes well for future reunions when fights inevitably break out over who said what about whose son is The Real Housewives.
