Denmark’s Mickey Krause lifted the first major title of his career at the European Pool Open in Fulda, Germany, on Sunday.

Krause not only celebrated his first Matchroom Major title, but also secured a spot in the inaugural Reyes Cup, scheduled for later this year.

Chua, who had beaten Shane Van Boening in the semi-finals, took the first rack, but Danish star Krause responded by winning three more in a row, including a clever long shot on the six-ball in the fifth to make the score 4-1.

After a dry break from Krause, Chua attempted to close the gap, but faltered and missed a crucial fifth shot, gifting another rack to the Dane, who brought the score to 8-2, which he soon extended to 10-3.

The bad luck didn’t stop for Chua who led off with a dry rack in the 16th inning, allowing Krause to reach the hill.

Chua made a valiant effort with a three-rack run after another scratch from Krause, narrowing the score to 12-8.

But in the end, a missed eight-point shot by Chua sealed her fate and Krause, who had earlier eliminated American Skyler Woodward, took advantage to clinch the European crown before stepping onto the baize to celebrate.
