Elon Musk’s Donald Trump Interview Crashes on X

Elon Musk’s “conversation” with former President Donald Trump got off to a shaky start. The interview, hosted on X Spaces and scheduled to begin at 8 PM ET on Monday night, stalled immediately and didn’t begin until 42 minutes later.

Those who managed to enter Space, including several Hem According to staffers, the event began with lo-fi techno music playing from Trump’s account for about 30 minutes.

18 minutes after the conversation was scheduled to begin, Musk claimed that X was the target of a “massive DDOS attack” that had made it impossible for Space to proceed as planned.

The rest of X appears to be functioning normally, however, and a source within the company confirmed The limit that there was not actually a denial-of-service attack. Another X staffer said there was a “99 percent” chance that Elon was lying about an attack.

In a series of follow-up posts about X, Musk said the company tested the system with 8 million concurrent listeners on Monday. Around the time the interview began, X said there were 915,000 people listening to Space.

Musk repeated the DDOS request when Space finally began around 8:40 p.m. ET. “As this massive attack shows, there is a lot of opposition to people only listening to what President Trump has to say,” he said.

The interview failure was reminiscent of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s 2023 X announcement announcing his presidential bid, which also began with technical difficulties. At the time, Musk attributed the issues to overloaded servers.
