The nomad network is back!

A TNN group tour in Morocco riding camels together in the vast arid desert

Big news for everyone! The Nomadic Network (TNN) is back! TNN is the community we created for travelers in 2019. The goal of TNN was to connect travelers through in-person meetups around the world.

In 2020, we’ve moved to virtual events, connecting you with a wide range of voices who can teach you everything from budget travel to itinerary planning, travel insurance to finding friends to destination-specific information.

We have also organized 25 tours in Europe, Middle East and Mexico. Seeing all these connections between like-minded travelers forming true friendships has been truly amazing and unforgettable.

However, last summer, I realized that I wanted to focus more of my time on writing books. That meant I had to scale back all of my business efforts, so I made the difficult decision to put TNN on hold while I figured out a way to keep it going while balancing my new goals.

I’m happy to say I got it and TNN is back!

One of our amazing TNN chapter leaders who has been with us since the beginning has offered to take over and keep the community and tours alive. So, I’d like to introduce you to the person who will be running TNN going forward: Lisa Field!

Lisa has been a proactive and inspiring community member who has stepped up time and time again over the years. In addition to hosting the Portland chapter’s monthly meetings, she has attended at least 100 virtual events (!!), hosted a few events herself, and represented TNN at travel conferences. Here we are at TravelCon earlier this year:

In 2019, she started a travel blog with international travel tips and tricks and joined The Nomadic Network (TNN) as a founding chapter leader in Portland. She even ran local tours, offering hikes and snowshoe trips in the Pacific Northwest.

So when she offered to take over TNN, it seemed like a natural fit. Who better than a community member to lead the community into its next phase! After all, that’s what TNN is all about. I wanted a place where travelers could find “their people” and change their lives for the better.

So what does this mean for you?

I handed over control of everything to Lisa: the website, the infrastructure, the mailing list, and all the social media accounts.

Moving forward, you will hear more about her. She is getting everything in order to start organizing events in the fall and touring again next year. She will keep the same spirit of the program, so the same spirit and atmosphere that you are used to will continue to live on.

TNN Community Events

First, it means that TNN events are back. Starting this month, TNN will host events aimed at connecting travelers with people and resources that can help them travel differently, better, and more. These events will continue to be ticketed to allow as many people as possible to attend.

Here are the first ones:

And if you want to join the Portland, Oregon chapter, they have monthly in-person meetings throughout the city. You can sign up here.

TNN Tour 2025

These tours will be very similar to TNN tours of the recent past. They will still be focused on traveling with like-minded travelers. They will continue to place a high priority on hands-on cultural experiences and unique, local interactions.

They will still be budget conscious, but all accommodations will be at least three-star (after all, everyone wants/needs a good night’s sleep) and tour prices will include many of the expected gratuities, to make things easier.

Plus, they’ll have the option to add carbon offsets, and Lisa herself will travel on each of the tours!

Use code “LAUNCH” to get $200 OFF when you register for any tour before Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 11:59 PM PT.
