James Cameron Teases with Mysterious New ‘Terminator’ Project

The director of two of the most groundbreaking sci-fi films of all time has teased audiences with his return to the franchise. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Terminator AND Terminator 2: Judgment Day director 1960-1969, James Cameron, 1969-1970, 1969-1971, 1969-1972, 1969-1973, 1969-1974, 1969-1975, 1969-1976, 1969-1977, 1969-1979 , 19 revealed that he may not be done with Terminator yet. It’s been more than 20 years since Terminator 2 was released, and while Cameron hasn’t directed a Terminator films since then, he is credited as producer on Terminator: Dark Fatethe legacy sequel that brought both back into fashion Linda Hamilton AND Arnold Schwarzenegger and was directed by Tim MillerCameron is also credited for the screenplay of Terminator: Dark Fatewhich was also compiled from a set of David Goyer, Justin Rhodes, Billy Ray, Carlo EgleAND Josh Friedman. When asked what he was working on on Terminator, Cameron simply said, “It’s totally classified. I don’t want to have to send in a potentially dangerous robot agent if I were to talk about it, even retroactively.”


While this certainly doesn’t reveal a ton of new information, it’s also not a complete arrest, something Cameron has never been afraid to do with reporters in the past. If he hadn’t been involved in anything with the Terminator franchise, he certainly wouldn’t have had a problem telling The Hollywood Reporter. Cameron has also weighed in on the upcoming animated film Terminator Zero project that will be released on Netflix on August 29th and which will see as protagonists Timothy Oliphant, Sonia MizunoAND Rosary Dawson. Cameron said he’s always interested in seeing how another creator puts their own spin on a world someone else has created and brought to life for the first time. Us too, James.



What did James Cameron direct after “Terminator”?

Between the Terminator film, cameron directed Aliensthe sequel of the Ridley Scott classic that many consider the best entry in the franchise to date. He also directed a film that held the “highest grossing film of all time” title in Titanicbefore beating his own record with The Avatar in 2009, a film that is still the highest-grossing theatrical release of all time, grossing more than $2.9 billion at the worldwide box office. 13 years later, Cameron directed the sequel, Avatar: The Way of Waterwhich also ranked third among the highest-grossing films of all time, earning more than $2.3 billion in total.
