Released at midnight, the trailer offers an emotional look at the director JCBy Chandor takes on the iconic Marvel Comics character. Featuring a haunting cover by by Johnny Cash “The Man Comes Around” trailer ramps up the action and bloodshed while giving us a glimpse of Taylor-Johnson shirtless showing off his sculpted physique, because how else would we know he was superhero-adjacent if he hadn’t been shirtless for at least Some of the movie?

The film follows Taylor-Johnson’s Sergei Kravinoff, better known, of course, as his alter ego Kraven the Hunter. While the exact plot remains under wraps, the narrative will explore Kraven’s quest to become the ultimate predator and hunter, aligning with the storyline established in his Marvel Comics origins. The film’s red-banded trailer released last year hinted at a grittier tone than other entries in the Spiderman universe, like Poison, Madama Web AND Softfeaturing scenes of Kraven chasing large predators such as lions and introducing a distinctively designed Rhino, the infamous villain from the comic book series.

Who is in “Kraven the Hunter”‘?

The film is directed by Mr. Chandorknown for directing the Netflix hit film Triple frontier as well as the gripping survival film All is lost, who recited Robert Redford and not another soul, and the visceral criminal drama An extremely violent year. The cast includes Ariana DeBose who plays the role of Voodoo priestess Calypso. Meanwhile, Fred Hechinger takes on the role of Kraven’s half-brother, Dmitri Smerdyakov, also known as Chameleon. Reports last year suggested that Christopher Abbotto had been chosen to play the film’s main villain, The Foreigner. Alongside them, we will see people like Alessandro Nivola, Levi Miller and Russell Crowe appear in supporting roles.

During an interview earlier this year with Rolling Stone UK, Taylor-Johnson explained why Kraven the Hunter he appealed to him.

“I think there was something unique about this character and something real,” he said at the time.

The actor added that he thinks audiences are tired of certain studio films “where they churn out stuff that dilutes the desire to go to the movies. I wouldn’t have accepted if I thought there wasn’t something to really bring to life this character.”
