Best Credit Cards for Food Delivery

Dining is consistently one of the most popular categories for credit card bonuses, and it often includes food delivery, either directly from the restaurant or through a delivery app like DoorDash or Uber Eats.

Likewise, some credit card issuers offer perks for food delivery, such as statement credits, free access to subscription services, and delivery discounts.

If orders are one of your top spending categories, here are six great cards that will help you maximize your deliveries with discounts, bonus points, or both.

Restrictions for restaurants

It is worth noting that some of these cards offer restaurant bonuses that are supposed to exclude food delivery services. In practice, however, these services are often still coded as restaurants or food merchants and, in fact, earn bonus points.

For example, Chase defines its restaurant category this way:

“The primary business of merchants in the restaurant category is sit-down or dine-in dining, including fast food and fine dining establishments. Merchants selling food and beverages located in facilities such as sports stadiums, hotels and casinos, theme parks, supermarkets, and department stores will not be included in this category unless the merchant has designated those purchases to be classified in a restaurant category. Bakeries, caterers, meal kit delivery services, and gift card merchants are not included in this category.”

That’s why the Chase Sapphire Reserve, for example, earns a 3 points per dollar dining bonus on orders from Postmates, Grubhub, Uber Eats, and DoorDash. Results may vary by card and delivery service, so check the terms and conditions to be sure.

If you want to be on the safe side, you can always order directly through the restaurant’s website or by phone if offered. Typically, this will charge your credit card directly from the restaurant, ensuring you earn extra points on food delivery.

In conclusion

These are some of the best credit cards with bonuses and discounts specifically for restaurant and food delivery services. Remember, while some of these cards exclude food delivery from earning bonus points in their terms, many will still earn bonus points on delivery, as long as the merchant codes the purchase as a restaurant.

These bonus points, combined with other benefits like discounts and credits, will make your food delivery more rewarding than ever.
