Crystal Palace are prepared to reject a fourth offer from Newcastle for defender Marc Guehi, who is thought to be valued at around £65m.
Newcastle’s most recent offer included add-ons, although the deal structure was never agreed with Palace. The Magpies’ current transfer record is £63m for Alexander Isak.
Negotiations continued after the Magpies’ third offer, believed to be for £55m upfront plus £5m in bonuses, was rejected by the Eagles earlier this week.

The England international was Eddie Howe’s number one target at centre-back.
On Tuesday, Palace chairman Steve Parish told Newcastle to pay a premium to sign the 24-year-old, arguing that “if you want a superstar player, you have to pay superstar money”.

Parish believes the former Chelsea defender is a “generational talent” who the club will fight to retain this summer, before the August 30 deadline.
Speaking on Friday, Newcastle manager Howe did not respond directly to Parish’s comments or name Guehi when asked, but said: “What you don’t want to do is make a signing and then three or four months later think we’re not really sold on him.
“Players who make a difference are what we’re looking for, players who can take us forward. We just need to avoid adding numbers at all costs, in my opinion.
“I don’t have control over every aspect of the deal, and that’s fine. There are many different ways of working. I don’t comment on transfers out of respect for the other club.”
Guehi: I can focus my attention on one side

Guehi insists he is ignoring speculation over his future, amid interest from Newcastle, and is focusing only on Palace’s opening Premier League match at Brentford on Sunday, live on Vscek.
Asked whether he can focus on one side ahead of Sunday’s game against Palace, Guehi responded exclusively Vscek News: “I can, I’ve done it all my life, really. I’ve never been one to look too deeply into myself, if that makes sense.
“But I think it’s always important to focus on what’s really important, which is the game on the weekend, making sure we’re a solid team for the rest of the season.”

Guehi said of Parish’s “superstar” comments: “Humiliated, humiliated by this. For someone who is such a big part of this football club, for him to say something like that is unbelievable, for someone like me.
“I’m not sure I’m a superstar, but the president said some really kind words to me, so it’s really nice to hear that.”
A key factor in the talks between Palace and Newcastle is the remaining length of Guehi’s contract.
There are 18 months left until the pre-contract negotiations with teams abroad and two years until his departure on a free transfer.

But Guehi, who shone for England in their run to the Euro 2024 final, insists he is happy at Selhurst Park as speculation continues to mount over his long-term future.
Asked if he is happy and enjoying life, he replied: “Yes, I am. Honestly, it’s nice to be back here, it’s nice to be back playing among teammates again.
“Another nice little race in front of the fans [started Palace’s 1-1 pre-season home draw against Nantes]so yeah, everything is positive at the moment.”
She added: “I think there’s a real culture of togetherness here, and that’s from everyone from the academy, to the women. [team] and the men [team] also. Everyone is really on the same page, a real family.
“It’s a cliché to say, but it’s honestly a fantastic place to be.”
