Scott Forrester’s Replacement at The International Makes Me Feel Better About Luke Kleintank’s Exit

Summary

  • Luke Kleintank’s hasty exit from
    FBI: International
left fans dissatisfied, but the choice of Jesse Lee Soffer as the new protagonist bodes well for the future of the series.
  • Soffer’s portrayal of Wes Mitchell could bring a fresh perspective to Fly Team, offering complex character development and intriguing storylines.
  • Fans of Soffer’s work on
    Chicago Police Department
can expect a different but equally compelling performance in his new role in
    FBI: International
giving a new direction to the series.

I feel better about Luke Kleintank’s exit from FBI: International now that I know who will replace him. For three years, Kleintank’s Scott Forrester was the head of the elite Fly Team, which investigates international crimes that target Americans. However, Forrester’s exit before FBI: International Season 4 was rushed, with the character disappearing and other agents concluding that he is helping his mother, who is hiding in Russia. I found this exit story disappointing, because Forrester was there one moment and gone the next.

The lack of a final scene in which Forrester makes the decision to meet his mother turned what could have been a powerful ending to Forrester’s story into an after-the-fact explanation. of why he was no longer part of FBI: InternationalUnfortunately, it wasn’t the first time it happened in sharing One Chicago universe that the exit of a beloved character was handled inappropriately. So, I wasn’t expecting much good news after Forrester left and I’m pleasantly surprised to learn that a One Chicago will play the new leader of the Fly Team.

FBI Season 6 is returning to CBS after being delayed to 2023. Here’s everything we know about the detective series’ renewal, cast, and plot.

Jesse Lee Soffer Replaces Luke Kleintank’s Scott in FBI: International

A behind-the-scenes video reveals that his character is named Wes Mitchell

CBS announced that Jesse Lee Soffer would play the new leader of the Fly Team. Few details have been announced since then, but I’m still excited for Soffer to be cast in this position. As Chicago Police Department fans, I know what Soffer can bring to a role, and he will bring a similar emotional depth to his new character as Forrester. Soffer’s character will undoubtedly have his own complicated backstory, making this a substantial new role that will provide interesting subplot opportunities.

Jesse Lee Soffer is the second former Dick Wolf show star to play the head of an FBI unit, after Dylan McDermott
FBI: Most Wanted
immediately after completing his role on
Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Soffer’s take on this role gives Dick Wolf the opportunity to make amends for Halstead’s disappointing exit story in Chicago Police Department season 10. Halstead’s exit was better than Forrester’s because he was given a farewell scene, but his decision to go to Bolivia wasn’t entirely in line with his character. Although Soffer joins FBI: International makes it unlikely that Halstead will return to Chicago Police In the near future, all of this will be offset by the opportunity for Soffer to play a different, more complex character, which could prove equally compelling.

Why Jesse Lee Soffer Is an Exciting New Lead for the FBI: International

It could take the series in a new direction

Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) are on the loose in the Chicago Police Department.

It’s still unclear what direction Soffer will take his new role, as the only information that’s been released so far is his character’s name: Wes Mitchell. However, it’s still exciting to contemplate the potential future changes for the Fly Team. The team will likely resist Mitchell’s leadership at first out of loyalty to Forrester, especially if he has different ideas about how it should operate. I expect he’ll win them over eventually, but Soffer is the perfect actor to take audiences on this tough emotional journey.

Soffer has demonstrated his ability to play complex characters, making it exciting to consider the ways in which Wes Mitchell might be different.

The character of Soffer on FBI: International should be substantially different from Halstead to avoid boring both the actor and the audience. Soffer has shown his ability to play complicated characters, making it exciting to contemplate the ways in which Wes Mitchell could be different and the direction this new character will take the Fly Team. While I’m still disappointed that Forrester was written off so abruptly, I look forward to seeing him replace him now that he’s an actor I admire.
