The new Acura concept is a representation of an upcoming electric model that is scheduled to go into production next year at Honda’s new “EV hub” manufacturing facility in Ohio. In a media event today, Honda Global Executive Vice President Shinji Aoyama, Motor1 said that a new “NSX-type” electric sports car is also in the works for “2027 or 2028.”
As first teased last week, Acura says its new concept is “dynamically designed,” and today describes it as having a “powerful, athletic stance” with its long wheelbase and beefy wheel arches. The concept, as shown, has 23-inch wheels with variable-spoke spacing designed to “evoke a sense of motion even when stationary.”
Looking at the side profile of Acura’s EV concept, it looks like a Mustang Mach-E with a proper sports sedan for a coupe look (rather than the Mach-E’s fake roofline illusion trick). From the front, however, you’ll notice an aggressive hood and side vents, as well as some squinty headlights that add to the overall angry vibe of the Acura.
Meanwhile, Honda is working on a new series of electric vehicles called the Honda Zero, which so far includes a unique, slanted EV concept along with a larger “Space-Hub” concept.
