Amex: New Centurion Lounge Coming to Salt Lake City

American Express will open another new Centurion Lounge.

Amex announced Wednesday that it will bring its famous airport club to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) in 2025. The newly constructed lounge will open in the Concourse B expansion as part of Phase 4 of the SLC airport redevelopment program.

Once opened, Amex will become the only credit card company to operate a lounge at the SLC.

American Express already has deep roots in the Salt Lake City region, including the American Express National Bank headquarters in Sandy, Utah.

Additionally, given the presence of Delta’s hub at SLC, the opening of a Centurion Lounge at SLC Airport will create numerous synergies. (Amex and Delta have a major agreement that translates into billions of dollars in revenue.)

In terms of amenities, travelers can expect to find two special features at this lounge. The first is a year-round outdoor terrace overlooking the airport and Wasatch Mountains. The second is a “Blue Roast by American Express” coffee bar that will offer counter service with espresso drinks, cold brews and rotating seasonal creations from a soon-to-be-announced local roaster.

Additionally, many of Centurion Lounge’s signature amenities are also featured in this space. The station promises a rotating culinary selection from award-winning local chef Resy, cocktails by Jim Meehan, and a wine list curated by Anthony Giglio, Centurion Lounge’s wine director and sommelier.

Amex did not provide many other details about the new lounge, other than that it will be approximately 16,000 square feet.

Loyalty Basics: The Best Ways to Earn Airline Miles

When it opens, eligible cardholders flying on Delta will have two lounge options: the Delta Sky Club or the Centurion Lounge. Those traveling on all other airlines will be able to use the Centurion Lounge.

“American Express has strong roots in the Salt Lake City community. It is home to many of our colleagues and cardmembers and a popular vacation destination for U.S. and global cardmembers. The new Centurion Lounge will give eligible cardmembers a taste of what this beautiful destination has to offer and will offer premium amenities for all types of travelers,” said Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel, in a statement.

The new SLC lounge is just the latest in Amex’s quest to dominate the credit card-branded airport lounge game worldwide. Just last month, the issuer opened a new outpost at Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Washington, D.C., and on August 1, it opened its fourth club in Mexico City.

Looking ahead, Amex has already announced that new lounges will open at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in 2025 and at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in 2026.
