Chelsea, Rangers, Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren learn their fates as Champions League, Europa League and Conference League draws unfold | Football News

Chelsea have been drawn to face either Braga or Servette in the UEFA Conference League play-offs.

Braga AND Napkins will meet in Portugal on Thursday evening in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa League, with the return match taking place in Switzerland on Thursday 15 August.

The losing team will progress to the Conference League to face the Blues for a place in the main competition.

The first leg will be played at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 22 August, with the return leg taking place a week later on Thursday 29 August.

Chelsea did not take part in European competition last season and will compete in the Conference League for the first time in 2024/25.

The Rangers they will have to face RB Salzburg OR FCTwente in the Champions League play-off round, if they overcome Dynamo Kyiv.

Philippe Clement’s team will face Kiev in the third qualifying round: the first leg will be played on Tuesday 6 August in Poland, while the return leg will be played on Tuesday 13 August.

If Rangers qualify for the play-offs, they will play the first match at home on August 20/21, with the return leg on August 27/28.

The Kiev team plays their home games in Poland due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, while Rangers play at home at Hampden Park because Ibrox is not yet ready for the start of the season.

A delay in the arrival of materials from Asia has caused work to be halted at the Copland Road Stand, resulting in matches being moved to the National Stadium.

In the meantime, Hearts will face the winners of FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih (United Kingdom) OR FC Viktoria Pilsen (JUNE) In the Europa League play-off round.

Steven Naismith’s side, who began the new Scottish Premiership season with a 0-0 draw at Rangers, finished third in the top flight last season, securing a place in Europe’s group stages.

If Hearts lose the play-offs, they will progress to the group stages of the Conference League.

Hearts’ potential opponents meet this Thursday in their third round qualifier, with the return leg set to decide who progresses to face the Jambos next week.

Naismith’s side will be away for the first game of the play-offs, which will be played on August 22, with the return match taking place the following Thursday at Tynecastle Park.

Chilmarnock will take over Copenhagen OR FC Baník Ostrava (JUNE) in the Conference League play-off round, should they beat Tromso of Norway.

Derek McInnes’s team took to the field after losing 2-1 against Bruges Circle in their qualification for the Europa League.

St. MirrenIn the meantime, Romania will play CS Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara OR FC Astana of Kazakhstan in their play-offs if they were to overcome Fire.

Stephen Robinson’s team have already beaten Iceland’s Valur 4-1 in the second qualifying round.

On Thursday, St Mirren and Kilmarnock will both play at home in third round qualifiers, before the return leg takes place away on Thursday 15 August.
