Chesterfield 1 – 1 Swindon

Chesterfield had to settle for a point on their return to the EFL, as Swindon managed to recover and earn a point with a 1-1 draw.

Armando Dobra gave the Spireites the lead in their League Two opener, but Will Wright scored in the second half to give the visitors a draw.

Chesterfield took the lead in the 15th minute when Will Grigg’s shot was blocked by Jack Bycroft and Dobra was the first to react, turning the ball into the net from close range.

Chesterfield claimed a penalty midway through the first half when Michael Jacobs appeared to be fouled by Grant Hall inside the box, and manager Paul Cook, who complained, was shown a yellow card by referee Scott Oldham.

Harry Smith, following a cross from Wright, heads the visitors just over.

Grigg then shot from inside the box, but Bycroft made a good save.

Will Wright raced from the halfway line before scoring from outside the box as the Swindon defender scored on his debut against Chesterfield

Swindon started the second half well with Ollie Clarke shooting narrowly wide and then Wright firing into an empty net from outside the area.

But Wright found the back of the net in the 64th minute, levelling with another long-range shot that hit the top right corner of the net.
