A firearm registered to the infamous cop killer Christopher Dorner It was recovered during the arrest of two men suspected of robbing a $1 million watch at gunpoint… and the crazy thing is, Dorner has been dead for more than a decade.
Los Angeles prosecutors say Beverly Hills police officers found a gun registered to Dorner during a search of the suspects’ Airbnb Saturday morning.
The firearm is a .45-caliber Glock 21 pistol… and prosecutors say it was loaded and hidden in a pillowcase when officers found it during their search. Authorities also released photos that allegedly show one of the suspects holding the gun.
Dorner, of course, is the infamous former LAPD officer accused of killing four people, including a police officer, in 2013 in a case that sparked a nine-day manhunt, which It ended with Dorner’s death in an isolated cabin in Big Bear, California, after a violent firefight with police.
Investigators say the gun was used last week when two South American nationals robbed a man at gunpoint of a $1 million Patek Philippe watch while he was dining with his wife and two daughters on the patio of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
It’s unclear how the men obtained a gun registered to Dorner… but prosecutors say officers tracked down the suspects, arrested them and then found the weapon while executing a search warrant.
Prosecutors say the 21-year-old Jamer Mauricio Sepúlveda He is charged with one count of interference with commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act) and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime.
Meanwhile, the nineteen-year-old Jesus Eduardo Padron is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery under the Hobbs Act.
If convicted on all counts, Sepulveda faces a maximum sentence of life in federal prison, while Padron faces up to 20 years behind bars.
