Clear’s annual price has increased by $10: it now costs $199

According to a company spokesperson, as of August 1, the annual price of Clear has increased by $10 and will now cost $199.

The expedited airport security program is currently available at 58 airports across the United States and can also be used at stadiums and other large venues, with more than 22 million members nationwide.

The secure identity platform uses members’ biometrics, including fingerprints and iris scans, to automate the identity verification step in the U.S. Transportation Security Administration screening process. Instead of waiting in line for a TSA agent to scan their driver’s license or passport, Clear members can walk through a separate, dedicated security lane with separate check-in kiosks.

With Thursday’s price increase, Clear now costs $199 a year, but some cards can cover the cost entirely or at a discounted rate.

American Express confirmed a $199 Clear Plus statement increase, also effective Thursday, specifically The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American ExpressHilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, American Express® Green Card, American Express Corporate Platinum Card®, and Centurion Card from American Express. Starting in April, Clear members can sign up for TSA PreCheck for a combined rate of $199. To get that price, travelers must apply for both TSA PreCheck and Clear Plus Membership on the Clear website. Once they complete the process and are approved, Clear will issue a $77.95 discount.

Several airlines offer their frequent flyer members discounted Clear fares.

In addition to the price increase, Clear has launched Clear Perks.[It’s] a range of new benefits aimed at enhancing the travel experience,” said a Clear spokesperson. “The benefits include services such as home or hotel luggage delivery and lost property recovery at the airport via Clear Scout, assisted by our ambassadors.”

At the time of publication, Clear did not respond to a request for further information on Clear Perks.
