Could Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk be next for the impressive Martin Bakole? | Boxing News

According to promoter Ben Shalom, the next to face the Congolese giant Martin Bakole could be Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk.

Bakole stuns Jared Anderson with a fifth-round knockout victory in another record-breaking performance in the top division.

With the win, Bakole moves to 21-1, while handing Anderson the first loss of his professional career, dropping him to 17-1.

Bakole will now look to assert his WBA challenge in the future, as he currently holds mandatory status at the top of the rankings.

“Martin Bakole had a devastating performance. The entire heavyweight division is on alert now,” Shalom said.

“Jared Anderson was brave, he showed a lot of heart, but Martin took him down and finished him in style.

“There are a lot of big fights lined up for him: the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk, Zhilei Zhang, Joseph Parker, Agit Kabayel.

“Martin has been patient. He’s been working hard, waiting for his opportunity, and now is his time. He’s ready to mix it with the best in the world.

“I think Martin Bakole can beat anyone. He will cause problems for everyone and can become world heavyweight champion.”

In May, Fury lost to Usyk, being outclassed on points in a memorable fight for the undisputed world heavyweight title.

The best of the action from the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight title fight between Zak Chelli and Callum Simpson

After Callum Simpson wins British and Commonwealth titles victory at Barnsley’s Oakwell Stadium, Shalom said that “British boxing has a new star”.

“Simpson showed incredible skill and maturity to beat Zak Chelli and win the titles the way he did.

“He has a huge amount of support at Barnsley. I’ve never seen anything like it. This will be the start of something very special for him.

“Next time we come back to Oakwell, I think he’ll be able to fill the whole stadium.

“It’s incredible to see the connection he has with the club, the fans and the community. He could become the biggest ticket seller in British boxing.”
