Olympics 2024: Australian breakdancer Raygun responds to criticism after controversial routine
At this point, does anyone remember who actually won the gold medal in women’s break at the 2024 Olympics?
For the record, that was I love Yuasaaka B-Girl Ami, from Japan.
But the Internet has been much more obsessed with Australia Rachel Gunnor B-Girl Raygun, who went infectiously viral towards the end of the Paris Games for the opposite reason an athlete would do it. Want to conquer social media.
“me forcing my mom to watch my invented pool dance,” read one August 9 post on X in response to Gunn’s performance during the event’s opening round robin. Another noted, “I feel a little sorry for RayGun, the Aussie #BreakingForGold, but that routine was hilariously ridiculous.”
Also in fact an ambassador of joy Snoop Dogg apparently approved the pile, posting a montage of a bunch of other The Olympians took to Instagram on August 12 with the caption: “This is the real deal!!! Respect.”
Needless to say, Gunn’s moves have been deemed not only unready for primetime, but also unready for…Anyone-time on a world stage like the Olympics.
