I’m so glad I saw these 2 alien movies before Romulus Now

I made sure to review some of them Alien film before going to the cinema Alien: Romulusand now I’m really glad I decided to watch two of them in particular: Prometheus AND Alien: PactAs soon as it became clear that Fede Álvarez’s film was set between Alien AND Aliensit became apparent that it was likely to have some connection to the films of Ridley Scott and James Cameron. Since they are indisputably the two best Alien movies, I would always watch them again just to relive their greatness and refresh my memory of the history of the franchise.

The question that remained with me was what else? Alien movies to watch first Alien: RomulusWith the Alien vs. Predator the films easily came out of the picture, there wasn’t even an immediate need that seemed to make Alien 3 AND Alien: Resurrections if time became an issue. But my revisit plan included revisiting Prometheus AND Alien: Pact. This was partly just to see the new episodes again, but also for a greater chance that they could connect to Alien: Romulus since they are prior to the film. That turned out to be the right move on the part of Alien: Romulus‘ final.

Romulus Connects to Ridley Scott’s Prequels

At the top of Alien: Romulus‘ strong connections with Alienthe film is also very clearly based on the story started by Ridley Scott in Prometheus and continued in Alien: Pact. The full extent of the film’s connections to the previous films is established once Ian Holm’s Rook enters the picture and informs the audience and the characters what the Renaissance space station has been working. It reveals that the labs have found the key to life in Big Chap’s body, which has led them to collect and develop a new black slime reminiscent of the Engineers’ creation in Prometheus.

Speaking of the Engineers, knowing them is also important when it comes to the film’s final reveal. Alien: RomulusThe new Xenomorph, a human-alien hybrid born to Kay after she injected herself with black slime, bears unmistakable physical similarities to the forces that create and destroy life. Prometheus introduced. Although more human in his overall appearance than Alien: PactAs for Neomorph, I was surprised by how much it resembled the Engineers and how Álvarez decided to merge the two parts of the franchise’s timeline.

Alien: Romulus’ Biggest Twists Are Improved by Prometheus & Covenant

Alien: Romulus it could still work as a movie without any pre-existing knowledge from Prometheus OR Alien: Pactbut watching the movies definitely helped my experience with its bigger twists. Human-alien hybrids have been part of the franchise since Alien Resurrectionbut the design was vastly different and I liked the connection to the Engineer. Likewise, the black slime might just seem like a new plot MacGuffin for the purposes of Alien: Romulus for anyone who hasn’t seen or doesn’t remember Ridley Scott’s previous films.

I didn’t expect it Alien: Romulus to get back to the black slime plot point or continue the themes of life creation, as David took to the next level in Alien: Pactwhen I decided to rewatch those movies. The decision to do so was more based on my personal interest in wanting to rewatch them and reconsider their place in the franchise. But now that I’ve seen them Alien: Romulus and the great twists and turns it has to offer, I feel safe to say that they got better by watching them Prometheus AND Alien: Pact previously.
