Since Vice President Kamala Harris entered the presidential race, things changedHis campaign almost immediately began framing the election as: Harris, the former Attorney – against Trump the criminalAnd that word – “criminal” – is one that our friends at NPR Switch code I’ve been thinking about this a lot since former President Trump was convicted on 34 counts in May. In this episode, Switch code Co-hosts BA Parker and Gene Demby chat with comedian Arif Shahid, who performs under the name Felonious Munk, about what it means to him to publicly bring up this reference to his felony conviction. Then, Gene talks to Josie Duffy-Rice, a writer who covers the criminal justice system, to examine the ways in which “felon” sticks with people long after their sentence is over.

This episode was co-hosted by Gene Demby and BA Parker, produced by Christina Cala, and edited by Courtney Stein. Our engineer was Josh Newell. Additional hosting by Brittany Luse, production by Liam McBain and Barton Girdwood, and editing by Jessica Plazcek. Our VP of Programming is Yolanda Sangweni.
