Jordanian Chillies may have to give back one of his Olympic medals … because a review panel says a challenge to his score should not have been allowed.
Here’s the thing… during the women’s floor exercise on Monday, Chiles initially scored 13.666, placing her in fifth place, just off the podium.
WHAT A MOMENT 🥹
Jordan Chiles was not credited for a skill and Team USA requested a review…
This is his reaction when he found out he won the bronze 🥉

Although initially deflated, her coaches asked for a difficulty revision… which the judges granted. After reviewing the routine, they increased her score by a tenth of a point, placing her in third place.
So, Chiles won the bronze — bowed in a controversial way to the winner Rebecca Andrade with her teammate Simone Biles — and finished the 2024 Olympics with two medals.
Fast forward to Saturday… and the Court of Arbitration for Sport, a review body that settles disputes over rules in sports, ruled that his coaches had lodged the challenge after the minute had expired, and restored his score to 13,666.
The Court of Arbitration can change the scores but it cannot take away medals from Olympic athletes… so, now it is up to the International Gymnastics Federation to decide whether to take away the medal from Chiles and award it to the fourth-placed Romanian. Ana Barbosa which achieved a score of 13,700.

The U.S. Olympic team harshly criticized the decision in its statement supporting the gymnast, arguing that the review was conducted in good faith and should stand.
In any case, Chiles leaves Paris with at least one medal… a gold in the team all-around, so not a total loss for the 23-year-old who will almost certainly compete in Los Angeles 2028.
The International Gymnastics Federation’s decision is expected soon… until then, the future of Chiles’ medal is uncertain.
