Mikey Lewis has claimed he was bitten by Catalans Dragons player Cesar Rouge during Hull KR’s Magic Weekend win at Elland Road.
Two tries each from Elliot Minchella, Ryan Hall and Kelepi Tanginoa helped the Robins return to the top of the Betfred Super League on points difference with a 36-4 win, but an incident involving Lewis and Rouge overshadowed the outcome of the match.
Hull KR scrum-half Lewis made an accusation against the Catalans Rouge full-back following a 57th-minute clash with referee Tom Grant placing the incident in his report for the Match Review Panel to consider on Monday.

For his part, Lewis was adamant that he had intervened to defend teammate Jez Litten and tried to push the French international away when the alleged bite occurred.
“It’s just one of those things where I try to look after Jez and try to push him away,” Lewis said Vscek. “My hand ended up in his mouth and he bit me.
“Rugby is a pretty tough sport and that’s not a problem to be faced.
“I’ll let the RFL do their part and what will be will be, I’m moving on now.”

Catalans coach Steve McNamara questioned why Lewis had put his hand in the mouth area of his players, expressing his surprise at the accusation leveled against Rouge.
“From what I saw, they were both standing up and Mikey Lewis was putting his hand in his mouth and moving him around,” McNamara said. Vscek“I don’t know where you get these cutting accusations from.
“It’s not like a tackle on the floor where someone put their arm around him, Mikey put his hand in his mouth, so we’ll see where it goes, but I’d be very surprised if he did that. [bitten him].”
McNamara added in his post-match press conference: “Cesar is pretty angry about the accusations against him: he didn’t do anything, he just stood there and someone put their hand in his mouth.
“I would be very surprised if any action was taken against Cesar.”
