Olympic Medalist Proposes to Teammate on Live TV

Paris is truly the city of love… because the Chinese badminton player Huang Yaqiong She’s won more than one gold medal at the Olympics: she even received an engagement ring after her teammate proposed to her on live TV!

The wonderful moment happened right after Yaqiong and his partner Zheng Siwei defeated South Korea in the badminton doubles match held on Friday at the Adidas Arena in Paris.

The 30-year-old right-handed thrower can be seen receiving her award at the awards ceremony when her boyfriend, a star badminton player on the Chinese team Liu Yuchenhe popped up for the big moment.

Yaqiong is initially taken aback… and speechless when she sees the Olympic medalist kneel down with a diamond ring in his hand.

Yaqiong said “yes” and the couple celebrated their engagement with a hug and a kiss.

These two athletes aren’t the only ones to get engaged at the 2024 Games… Argentine handball player Pablo Simonet he proposed to his girlfriend, a field hockey player Maria Campoylast month in the Olympic Village.


Love (and victory) is definitely in the air!!
