What is a home microcurrent device?
Also known as a facial toner, a home microcurrent device is a skin care tool that allows you to stimulate your facial muscles with a low level of electrical current.
“These devices typically use electrodes and some type of conductive gel to transmit low levels of electrical current to the facial tissues,” explains Dr. Rubin. These electrical currents then stimulate the muscles in the face and cause contractions, which results in a lifted, sculpted appearance.
In addition to the device, you’ll need a conductive gel. “This creates an interface between the device and the skin to allow the current to pass through,” explains Dr. Rubin.
