It’s awards season again, and that means studios are in the trenches, pitching their best content for FYC campaigns. We’re excited to invite our readers to Los Angeles for a chance to win tickets to a very special screening of Blue-eyed Samuraififth episode, “The Tale of the Ronin and the Bride”. But that’s not all. After the show, attendees will be able to hear all about the Netflix’s hit animated series from the people closest to the production. The chat will include the executive producer and director Michael Greenexecutive producer and screenwriter Amber Noizumisupervising director and producer Jane Wu, and sound supervisor Myron Nettinga.


Set in the 17th century, a multiracial warrior named Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine) travels around Japan dressed in men’s clothing to hide the truth of her femininity and her blue eyes, which reveal her mixed heritage. The beauty of her birth began with horror and trauma after her mother was raped by a white man. Now an adult, Mizu searches for the man who gave her the features she has learned to despise. The series was a critical favorite this year and is up for two Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.


Along with Erskine, who is perhaps best known as the co-creator and star of Pen15The adult animated series also features the voice talents of Darren Barnet (I have never), Brenda’s Song (Life at the Zack and Cody Grand Hotel), Randall Park (WandaVision), George Shut Up (Star Trek: The Original Series) and more.


‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Screening Details

Our event will be held on Sunday, August 11th at Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles, California. It will be an intimate affair, as the room seats less than 70 people, and attendees can expect popcorn and drinks. The screening will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A moderated by Collider Editor-in-Chief, Steve Weintraub.
