Women’s Scottish Open: Charley Hull’s challenge fades as Lauren Coughlin wins at Dundonald Links | Golf News

Lauren Coughlin triumphed on the final day of the Women’s Scottish Open, securing her second LPGA title of the summer and confirming a spot on the U.S. team for the Solheim Cup next month.

Coughlin shot a three-under-par 69 in the final round to take the title at 15-under-par, four clear of second-place German Esther Henseleit.

Englishman Charley Hull, who Coughlin will compete against in the Solheim Cup, had trailed the lead by three shots overnight but saw his challenge evaporate after bogeying two of his first three holes to close the week with a one-point 73 and finish seven shots behind in fifth place.

Coughlin also made a couple of early bogeys, but recovered well, first out-bogeying Megan Khang on the first nine holes and then out-bogeying Henseleit on the back nine at Dundonald Links.

Khang was tied with Coughlin after five holes, but did not make another birdie the rest of her round as she eventually finished with a two-over-par 74 to tie with Ayaka Furue of Japan (68) for third place.

Coughlin, who won the Canadian Open three weeks ago, one-putted over her final seven holes to close out her second career LPGA victory in style.
